Silk Scarf Painting Workshop 2-4 pm
http://www.artsfestivaloxford.org/whats-on/saturday-30-june/silk-scarf-painting
The craft of painting on silk has many exciting possibilities: you can stretch the silk on a frame and draw outlines to colour in later; you can lay it flat and decorate it with fabric pens; you can simply watch the paints spread and magically intermix in the free flow technique; you can drop grains of salt on the wet paint and watch amazing textures develop; you can crunch it up with various resists to achieve batik effects. You can even dye it in the microwave to achieve instant colour and exciting patterns!
In this workshop, experiment using a range of different silk painting techniques. With the expert guidance of workshop leader Charlotte Haenlein, try your hand at drawing outlines to colour, create interesting textures with salts and play around with colour. By the end of the workshop, you have created a personalised, colourful and ready-hemmed scarf to take home with you.
